About The Artists
The Pat Winn Combo

Website

We are extremely proud that the Rock ’N’ Roll legend that is 'Western Star records' recording artist Mr Pat Winn will be returning to the Country Soul in February with his class Combo. Mr Winn has of course played for us many times with the fabulous 'Run Devil Run' but now we find him playing the music that initially inspired. Seemlessly moving from rock ’n’ roll to country and 'British Beat' expect to hear fine originals and fine covers from the likes of Willie, Waylon and Merle and perhaps some Dwight Yoakam thrown in for good measure. Comprising of Pat on vocals/guitar, Ewan Penkey (Dustbowl Sinners/Boot Heel Playboys) on bass, Tim Pearson (The Boot Heel Playboys) on piano and Mr Mark Winter on drums…..the Pat Winn Combo is a top notch band with a top notch singer. Don’t miss them.

Drew Morrison and the Darkwood

Website

The house band are looking forward to treading the CSS boards once again. The Darkwood are Nick Steyn (drums), Ian Gant (guitar), George London (bass & singing) and songwriter Drew Morrison (guitar and singing). The band's central vision of a music touched by influences ranging from Alt Country, Pop & Rock N' Roll all tinged with 'golden chording' has remained focussed and realised itself into a unique sound. Expect to hear flashes of late 1960s Velvets, Jimmy Webb-esque wordplay and electrical guitar playing that has one foot in the 1950s and the other very much in the now.

Bob Collum

Website

We are delighted that Bob Collum will be joining us for the February CSS. Playing for us in solo mode expect to hear country tinged pop tunes with lyrical storytelling at their heart. In 2021 Bob released (with his fine band The Welfare Mothers) his new long player "This Heart Will Self Destruct” (Fretsore Records) to very fine reviews that cemented his reputation for excellent songwriting. In fact the new LP showcased Bob’s love of songwriting that encompasses many genres with ease as ‘Country In the UK’ states ’”This Heart Will Self Destruct” is a unique melting pot that (showcases) more country singer-songwriter sounds to a more contemporary rockier or more traditionally power pop influences’.
