About The Artists
Sarah Vista

Website

It’s our pleasure to welcome back the outlaw songstress and 2020 Ameripolitan winner Sarah Vista to the Country Soul Sessions. Strutting through a Morricone-esque Spaghetti Western landscape that even the most righteous western aficionado would approve Sarah Vista has always followed her own trail with her fully loaded, tall tales of revenge and retribution. Her latest offering “Songs From The Silver Screen” (2020) was a download only release which saw 'Gallow Romantic' artist Vista cover western themed tunes as varied as ’Streets Of Laredo’, ‘High Noon’, 'Wanderin’ Star’ and other cinematic classics. For this ‘songwriters special’ Sarah will be accompanied by Becky Bullet on trumpet and twangy guitar guru Jeff Mead. Don’t miss her..

Bob Collum and the Welfare Mothers

Website

We are delighted that Bob Collum and the Welfare Mothers will be joining us for the December Country Soul. Way back when Bob Collum traded his hometown Tulsa, Oklahoma for the marshy plains of the Thames Estuary bringing with him a suitcase full of country tinged power-pop tunes with lyrical storytelling at their heart. Highly regarded by those in the know Bob Collum and his great band have only ever been going upwards in terms of recognition "He and his band are artists for whom consistent excellence is not an exaggeration, with their tremendous playing.....and his highly literate songs" (American Roots Music). Their latest long player 'Pay Pack and Carry' (Harbour Song Records) was released last year to very fine reviews. Come and see Bob, Paul, Allan, Mags and Matt do they're stylish alt-country rock n' roll thang.

Drew Morrison and the Darkwood

Website

The house band are looking forward to treading the CSS boards once again. The Darkwood are Nick Steyn (drums), Ian Gant (guitar), George London (bass & singing) and songwriter Drew Morrison (guitar and singing). The band's central vision of a music touched by influences ranging from Alt Country, Pop & Rock N' Roll all tinged with 'golden chording' has remained focussed and realised itself into a unique sound. Expect to hear flashes of late 1960s Velvets, Jimmy Webb-esque wordplay and electrical guitar playing that has one foot in the 1950s and the other very much in the now.
