About The Artists
Rossella Scarlet & The Cold Cold Hearts

We are delighted that Rossella Scarlet & The Cold Cold Hearts will be returning to the Sessions. Rossella Scarlet and her Cold Cold Hearts have the Honkytonk fever running way on high playing tunes by the likes of Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell. Far from being simply a covers band expect to hear some fine self-penned tunes in particular from their much anticipated forthcoming debut EP 'The Day Will Come'. Don't miss Rossella and her class band, comprising of pedal steel guru Phil Morgan, double bass to the stars Emma Goss and guitarist Graham Murphy. Simply put there is nothing Cold Cold Heartish about this's Country music with much soul.

The Magic City Trio

We are extremely pleased that London based outfit The Magic City Trio will be making their debut at the Country Soul. The band take their inspiration from pre-war country music, through to modern hillbilly noir although on their recent well received debut LP 'Amerikana Arkana' flashes of Lee Hazelwood type orchestration can be found in their music. Their songs occupy a world of murder ballads, outlaw tales and stories of loss and dustbowl depression. Normally a four piece Frank Sweeney (Guitar/vocals), Annie Holder (guitar/vocals) Adi Staempfli (bass) & Charlotte Burke (drums) for this Session the band will be joined at the Country Soul by a duo of trumpets.

Drew Morrison and the Darkwood

The house band return to the Country Soul. With their debut release 'Electric-Notes Wild' (Storm Cloud Agency Records) LP gathering fine reviews "with its beautiful harmonies, exquisitely-crafted arrangements and Morrison's empathetic and literate lyrics, it is an album of exceptional quality" (Pennyblackmusic) the band are really looking forward to treading the boards once again. Despite lineup changes along the road the band's central vision of a music touched by influences ranging from Alt Country, Pop & Rock N' Roll all tinged with 'golden chording' has remained focussed and realised itself into a unique sound. Onwards and upwards towards the fiery musical heavens!
